FLEXIBLE SHAFT COUPLINGS

<date>2008-06-25 09:42:25</date>

COMPLETE LINE OF FLEXIBLE COUPLINGS

Servometer® / Precision Manufacturing Group, LLC offers a complete line of zero backlash, low wind-up, bellows type flexible shaft couplings now available in stocked sizes from .0903 to .500 inches. Both metric and special combinations of bores to 1.000 inch can be supplied within two weeks. Standard parts are available on “next day” basis.

These zero backlash, low wind-up, flexible couplings exhibit zero cyclic speed variations during 360° rotation, and allow for low side thrust on bearings. Setscrews or split hub type ends are available.

Torque ratings from 2 to 4000 inch ounces are available and misalignment capabilities for a fatigue life greater than 100 x 10E6 are shown in our design catalog. A large selection of 35 different sizes of bellows from our Standard, High Torque, or Servo-Torque® Series permits close matching to the exact design requirements.

Servometer® couplings will operate up to 260° F. Special couplings with joints that are welded to the hubs will operate to 350° F. There is no lower temperature limit, making these couplings ideal for cryogenic temperature and aerospace use.

Servometer® lightweight flexible couplings are ideal for encoders, stepper motors, motion control feedback devices, and can also be found in numerous medical support apparatus and devices.

Our design staff in on hand to help with the design of custom applications.

BAFFLED ELECTROFORMS

<date>2008-06-25 09:37:47</date>

Servometer®
Baffled Electroforms

Servometer® / Precision Manufacturing Group, LLC, can now produce precision, custom electroforms, for use in a myriad of high tech applications. Servometer® electroforms can be used as molds, coldshields, waveguides, for precision tubing, and light weight, structurally rigid components.

Servometer® has developed and patented a process to manufacture electroforms with integral baffles, for use in Electro-optic applications.
Servometer® electroforms are produced by electrodepositing a thin layer of nickel on an aluminum substrate of any shape – then chemically dissolving the aluminum to leave a tough, thin metal wall

Baffled Electroforms and other custom electroformed components requiring close inside tolerances; precision internal finished and thin walls, can now be made to print by Servometer®. Servometer® electroforms can
be made as small as 0.020 in. (0.5 mm) in diameter out of nickel, copper, gold or silver, or a combination thereof. Lengths up to 6 inches can be readily produced, as can closed end tubes. Flexible components can also be manufactured by combining a formed unit with a flexible bellows section.

Nickel components can be furnished in weldable or solder grades to enable easy assembly. Most parts require no significant tooling, therefore; several prototype variations can be evaluated, as opposed to being locked into a design by expensive dies or molds.

GOLD PLATED BELLOWS FOR HIGH FREQUENCY INTERCONNECTION

<date>2008-06-25 09:16:19</date>

Gold Plated Bellows for
High Frequency Interconnection

Servometer® – PMG, LLC introduces Gold Plated Bellows Contacts, an alternative to spring loaded type test pins for the next generation of high frequency test applications. Servometer® contact springs are manufactured from electrodeposited nickel and gold plated according to ASTM-B-488 to enhance their conductivity, and provide extremely low DC resistance with a minimum of insertion loss. They have been designed to provide lifetime spring and force repeatability. Servometer contacts are rated for a maximum current of 4 amps.

Typical bellows have a low loss of only .20 dB (shorter) to .45dB (longer) at 6 GHz with a total bandwidth much higher. As you will notice from the data above, length does matter with regard to test pins, so the shorter the part the better.

Mechanically, the advantages of Servometer “bellows” over the spring loaded type test pins are:
• One piece construction and are a natural spring, therefore; have no moving parts to bind or cause extra unwanted resistance or impedance issues.
• Can typically be made as small as .020 inch (0.5 mm) in diameter. This becomes more critical as PCB densities increase and test pins are located closer and closer to each other.
• If required, the bellows could be coated with noise reduction materials to reduce crosstalk between test pins in close proximity, with little or no loss of mechanical capabilities
Because Servometer® bellows are made by Electrodeposition, the bellows can be made out of different materials. Thus, the conductivity of bellows at high frequencies from the Giga-Hertz range and up is superior to similar sized spring loaded test pins. Bellows can be made with Nickel, Copper, Gold or Silver for maximum performance. Servometer specializes in custom designed bellows. Servometer® bellows are ROHS compliant.
