Surfaces of cylinder bores are a crucial part for engine Designers. To optimize the quality of their engines, they are machined with complex tools to optimize the balance between little oil-wastage and perfect lubrication. The complex structures require a special tools to make an inspection possible. Such a tool is essential in development and nevertheless in a manufacturing process.
To satisfy the needs of engine designers, Opto has developed the Cylinderinspector and the QuickTest System.
They are optical non-contact measurement tools to inspect the inner wall surface of cylinders and other bores. Revolving around 360° and inserting down to 220 mm it allows an almost complete inspection of notches with diameters of 70 up to 130 mm.
All systems come with fibre optic illumination, Teflon coated contact surfaces and an ergonomic design. They can be used for inspection of honed iron cast surfaces as well as composition and distribution of silicon crystals on the go, for random tests and in a lab.

Quick-Test Zoom
The Quick Test Zoom is our entry level handheld system for quick bore inspections with 25x – 180x magnification. It can be used as easy and quick system with shortest possible conversion time and easiest handling.
Measuring is possible through a reticule in the Eyepiece or in conjunction with a PixelFox camera and measuring package mobile on a notebook.

Manual and Motorized Cylinderinspector

The Cylinderinspector system is made for large test quantities. It can be used for documentation purposes, with a high magnification and different software tools, e.g. a crystal destruction analysis modul or automated hone angle measurement tool, to analyse images.
A report tool supports an easy and fast compilation of measuring reports. In a further development it is also available as motorized version, both offering a magnification range from 20x -250x. The motorized version is ideal for high throughput inspection;
measuring positions for different cylinders can be set and approached afterwards automatically just by choosing the type of cylinder.
